Why I founded BAREVA – and why I no longer wanted to compromise on my coffee-to-go cup.

It was an episode of "The Diary of a CEO" that made a pretty big impact on my life (and still does today). A toxicologist explained how she became pregnant after years of infertility - solely because she found toxin-free alternatives for everyday poisons like scented candles, PFAS, and microplastics. I was deeply shocked by how ignorant I had been and how many toxins I actually had in my life. After that, I gradually changed a lot of things in my daily routine. For many things, it's easy to find better alternatives - but with one thing, I hit my limits: my daily coffee-to-go cup.

As a passionate coffee drinker, I simply no longer wanted to accept the creeping dose of microplastics that dissolves from cups and lids due to the hot steam. For weeks, I searched for a thermal mug where both the cup and the lid were made of plastic-free material. It was very frustrating and time-consuming: there was simply no coffee mug on the market that was 100% plastic-free. Even alternatives like cups made of bioplastic or bamboo were out of the question, as I came to learn, because adhesives or other chemical additives like toxic melamine and formaldehyde also dissolve at high temperatures. How am I supposed to enjoy my coffee on the go under those conditions?

Because this cup doesn't exist, I'm simply developing it myself. BAREVA is my answer as a founder: A coffee-to-go cup where the hot coffee comes into contact exclusively with stainless steel and fine sol-gel ceramic from the first to the last second – absolutely plastic-free, pollutant-free, and with no compromises on taste.
